Scott Roan
Before you think pocket protectors and Clark Kent glasses, Scott Roan is not your average VP of IT. In fact, we’re not really sure what he is (ha, ha…jk Scott), but we do know that he’s damn good at what he does. Which, incidentally, has a lot to do with complicated things we’d rather not think about.
A self-admitted tech geek from childhood, Scott followed his love of technology into the military, where he served as a Reactor Operator in the Naval Nuclear Power Program. During his time in the Navy he worked on his BS in Workforce Education and Development, which he later earned from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
By the time Scott joined the SmartTeam team (redundant? we think not) he already had 10 years of IT experience under his belt, including having been on the ground floor of development with the release of Microsoft.net in 2002. He has worked in the banking, healthcare and service industries, developing and supporting enterprise-level web applications with up to 10,000+ users. Not too shabby, right? No wonder he has no problem overseeing SmartTeam’s entire production environment.
Scott, his wife and their three kids have lived in the Tampa Bay area since 1996. After his daughter was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes in 2004, Scott became involved with the American Diabetes Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to bring awareness to schools, workplaces, and individuals about this terrible disease that he says continues to affect our world at an exponential rate. Wow, courage, brains and heart—we think we’ll keep him.
