Denver, CO, —Scrum Alliance, the largest, most established and influential professional membership organization and certifying body in the Agile community, is proud to sponsor the second ever Product Owner (PO) Camp in Italy.

“Two years ago a community of Agile practitioners and software business enthusiasts realized it was time to answer a few recurring questions around The Product Owner role and the business of software in general so they asked Scrum Alliance to sponsor an event and we were more than happy to assist,” Managing Director Carol McEwan said.  “It went very well for them last year so we were more than happy to support their event again this year.”

Italy Organizer Fabio Armani said, “While last year’s Product Owner Camp was very educational and helpful, more questions came up which ignited a new, ambitious goal:  We wanted to provide Product Owners the opportunity to come together in a collaborative, open manner, where everybody can perform at their best.  Whether they are a professional, business owner or just an enthusiast techie, attendees will be able to learn and share their field experiences.  We want to be truly open and share successes as well as failures, methodologies and raw ideas.”

Some of the main topics include:
  • Product Owner Role: What is it exactly? Why do I need to care?
  • A Product Owner (PO) can make a clear difference in terms of business. What are the primary responsibilities of a PO?
  • The role of the PO in relationship with development team, business stakeholders, product managers, marketing and sales.
  • Product Vision and strategy for organizations in the business of software.
  • Methodologies and tools for Product Owners.
  • User stories and mapping, backlog, prioritization.

“We want to contribute to a Product Owner resource that provides guidance and balance to existing and future Product Owners,” Armani said.  “By doing this exercise, we hope participants learn tangible ways to accelerate their business growth and professional career, or make pivotal changes for success. It’s not about the resource as much as it is about the pathway we collaboratively draw together to get to that destination.”
