About
Nathan Jones
Hi! I'm a newly minted Certified Scrum Master. I have been working on Scrum Teams for quite a few years, however it has been just in the last couple of years that I've really discovered my passion for Scrum and what it has to offer.
I grew up and attended High School in SE Minnesota. After graduation I had thoughts about teaching and quite a few other things, but nothing seemed to really fit. I ultimately chose to attend the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse because it had a wide variety of career paths that I could pursue. While attending UW-L my first "real" work experience was an internship at the Mayo Clinic. I was introduced the wonderful world of software development and all that came with it in 2000; VB6, COM, ASP. I finally knew that this is something I wanted to do. I eventually graduated from UW-L with an Information System major and Computer Science minor.
My bachelors degree was not the only thing I would take away from La Crosse. I also met my future wife there. She and I eventually moved to the Twin Cities metro area to begin our careers. I landed with a company called Paisley Consulting. During my first couple of years with Paisley I was working as a .Net developer. A few years later I moved to their Java development team. At that point in my development career I was focused on learning and leveraging best practices and design patterns in order to write high-quality code.
Since then I've began to realize that I have a genuine passion for being able to develop successful software not just writing high-quality, correct code. And, that's were Scrum comes in. I truly believe that Scrum lends itself to being able build successful software. I'm really looking forward to see what I can do with it, and what it can do for me in my career.
