Certified ScrumMaster for Video Game Development

This two-day course not only provides the fundamental principles of Scrum, it also gives participants hands-on experience applying Scrum to video game development.

This course puts theory into action through extensive use of exercise and a project simulation. All exercises and discussions are specifically tailored for those working in video game development. During the course, attendees will learn why such a seemingly simple process as Scrum can have such profound effects on a studio. Participants gain practical experience working with Scrum tools and activities such as the product backlog, sprint backlog, daily Scrum meetings, sprint planning meeting, and burndown charts. Participants leave knowing how to apply Scrum to all sizes of projects, from a single collocated team to a large, highly distributed team. Attendees learn how to fulfil the role of ScrumMaster, guiding game teams to higher levels of accountability and performance.

They will leave the course able to:
Facilliate all Scrum roles, artifacts and practices.
Coach both new start and experienced teams be more successful
Avoid the barriers to adopting Scrum in a video game development environment.
Help producers, artists, designers, testers and programmers work together effectively

Participants who successfully complete the course and follow-up test, will become Certified ScrumMasters through the Scrum Alliance and receive a two-year membership in the organization where additional ScrumMaster-only material and information are available.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Clinton Keith is an independent agile coach and Certified Scrum Trainer who introduced the game industry to Scrum in 2003 and Lean/Kanban in 2006. Clinton has trained and coached over 200 teams at over 100 game development studios and is the author of "Agile Game Development with Scrum”.

Clint's workshops and courses train developers from many disciplines, including artist, designers and engineers to work best together effectively in an agile environment.

This course is aimed at anyone interested in starting a Scrum project or wishing to improve their current Scrum implementation within a gaming or app development environment. Naturally intended for those taking on the ScrumMaster role, it is equally useful for any Scrum team member.

Prerequisites:
This course has no pre-requisites although we recommend you read the Scrum Guide prior to attending this course. Scrum is defined completely in the Scrum Guide by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland, the originators of Scrum.
