What You Will Learn

Our Advanced Certified ScrumMaster® (A-CSM®) course is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of Scrum Masters, enabling them to tackle more challenging situations and lead their teams effectively. The course takes you deep into the core Scrum Master skills of coaching and facilitation. Learn and practise a wide range of facilitation techniques, applicable to virtual, in person and hybrid contexts. You will also experience, learn and practise an industry recognised evidence based coaching model, and your new coaching skills will help take the team to the next level of performance. We cover alternative frameworks to Scrum, self reflect on your Scrum Master ability to serve others and to have a continuous learning mindset, and explore some of the challenges and anti-patterns that teams are faced with, learning from other experienced Scrum Masters across cultures, geographies and industries.

Overall, the A-CSM Certification course aims to empower Scrum Masters with advanced skills and knowledge to effectively lead and support Agile teams, enabling them to overcome obstacles, improve communication, and deliver high-value outcomes.

Advanced Certified Scrum Master - Certification

Successful completion of the 2-Day A-CSM training course means you are not only a Advance Certified Scrum Master, you are also entitled to enjoy 2 years of membership of the Scrum Alliance. That brings access to exclusive member-only information, resources and materials.

Certification Renewal

Your certification will be active for a 2-year period, at that time you will be asked to follow the Scrum Alliance renewal process.

To renew the certification, individuals must achieve and record 20 SEUs (Scrum Education Units) and pay a renewal fee.

Professional Development Units (PDUs)

The also course earns you 14 PDUs (Category A) within the PMI. PDUs can be used toward PMP, PMI-ACP and other certifications.

The course covers "Advanced Facilitation Skills" to enhance facilitation abilities. Participants will learn about divergent and convergent thinking, techniques for team decision making, and the importance of creating a team agreement. The course also emphasises inclusion and provides strategies for managing the flow of discussions and the overall room dynamics. Participants will develop listening skills and have ample opportunity to practice their facilitation skills. Additionally, the course covers managing emotions and feelings in a facilitation context.

"The World of Agile and the Scrum Master" delves into the realm of Agile methodology and its evolution. Participants will explore the impact of recent global events on the Agile landscape and gain an understanding of the Scrum Master Eco System. They will learn about the characteristics of an effective Scrum Master and receive practical tips from experienced professionals. The course encourages self-reflection and guides participants in developing a ScrumMaster Learning Radar to continuously improve their skills.

In the "Alternative Agile Frameworks" section, participants will familiarise themselves with different Agile frameworks beyond Scrum. The course highlights the importance of learning alternative frameworks and provides an exploration of two frameworks: Kanban and DevOps / CI-CD. This section aims to broaden participants' understanding of Agile methodologies and equip them with additional tools for various contexts.

"The Great Events Game" section focuses on Scrum events and their significance within the Scrum framework. Participants will review each event and understand why they are crucial to Scrum. Through playing the Great Events game, they will learn about anti-patterns and "smells" that can hinder effective implementation. The course also features valuable tips from experienced Scrum Masters.

The "Coaching Scrum" module provides guidance on coaching different stakeholders in the Agile environment. Participants will learn how to coach the Product Owner, including understanding the relationship between a Product Vision and a Product Goal, creating a Product Goal, and developing a prioritised Product Backlog. They will also explore coaching strategies for the team, such as addressing conflict, understanding the stages of team development, and removing impediments. Coaching the organisation is another focus, with topics including transitioning from Waterfall to Agile, recognising antipatterns and smells, and learning from a case study. The section concludes with tips from experienced Scrum Masters and discussions on scaling and different team structures.

In the final module, "Coaching Skills and Practise," participants will learn about the various aspects of effective coaching. They will understand when and who to coach, the prerequisites for coaching, and a coaching model to follow. The course emphasises practical application and provides opportunities for participants to practice their coaching skills.

Overall, this training course covers advanced facilitation skills, explores the world of Agile and the role of the Scrum Master, introduces alternative Agile frameworks, focuses on Scrum events and anti-patterns, and provides coaching strategies for different stakeholders. Who is Eligible to Attend?

The course is open to all individuals, regardless of their background or experience. However, in order to obtain the A-CSM certification, the following criteria must be met:

  • Hold a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification issued by The Scrum Alliance, regardless of its current validity status (current or expired).
  • Have at least one year of work experience specifically in the role of a Scrum Master within the past five years. This experience can be acquired after attending the course, and upon completion, the full certification can be obtained.

If you do not meet the above qualifications, we recommend considering the entry-level Certified Scrum Master course, which has no prerequisites and serves as a preparatory step for this course.

Additionally, exploring opportunities to gain more experience as a Scrum Master would be beneficial.

Who Should Attend the Course?

We highly recommend Scrum Masters or Project Managers who are already Certified scrum Masters to attend this course.
