Course

This course will be held in Finnish and in a classroom. Kurssi pidetään suomeksi ja toteutetaan luokkahuoneessa.

This 2-day course is a mix of theoretical explanation, problem exploration and practical exercises that will enable the attendees to reflect on their projects and become more agile. They will learn, through doing and questioning, about Scrum concepts and artifacts such as the Product Backlog, release planning, Sprint planning, the Daily Scrum and burn-down charts. Each aspect of the Scrum framework is explained in terms of its principles, its relation to the rest of the framework and how it is implemented in practice. The attendees have also the opportunity to explore the concepts in fun, practical case-studies.

It is recommended that participants familiarize themselves with the foundations of Scrum before the training. Suggested reading before the course is The Scrum Guide: http://www.scrumguides.org/scrum-guide.html. Fundamentals of Scrum are available also through short video clips at Scrum Alliance. Details

While the course is designed primarily for Scrum Masters it is useful for anyone who would like to know Scrum in depth, including team members, Product Owners and other stakeholders.

Following completion (within 90 days) of the course, participants will be asked to take an online test as a part of CSM certification. You will be notified by email about this test from the Scrum Alliance. The test concentrates on the fundamentals of Scrum.

Please note that in order to get the certification, you will need to be present for the entire course.

Agenda

Scrum is a simple framework but hard to do well. This two-day training aims to provide participants a solid understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of the Scrum elements. Each aspect of the Scrum framework is explored in terms of its principles, its relation to the rest of the framework and how it can be implemented in practice.

The first day will cover the conceptual backgrounds of Scrum and how the roles in Scrum differ from what is often seen in organizations and how this will impact the organization. The second day will cover the how-to-do things and look in detail in the different parts of the Scrum framework.

The Certified Scrum Master training teaches participants, among other things:

The underlying thinking behind agile product development
An overview of the Scrum framework
Insight into the role of a ScrumMaster
The impact of quality in sustainable development
Increased transparency through a clear Definition of Done
The accountability of a Product Owner
Ordering a Product Backlog to deliver value early
Estimating work to support planning and forecasting the future
How to plan Sprints effectively
Making the most out of the Daily Scrum meetings
Foundations for an effective, useful Sprint Retrospective

The course was very good, and the instructor was excellent. The presentation materials used, which the instructor made himself during the course, were excellent! Personally, the course was not suitable for me, but at least I learned a little about the subject.
