Certified Scrum Professional® - ScrumMaster

Taught by: Mark Levison
Not your typical CSP-SM course. Most cover only the required learning objectives and offer the minimum 4 hours of coaching time, but we go beyond that and take a path less traveled. Because sometimes the scenic route is where the real learning happens.

In our CSP-CSM program you will benefit from much more than just the standard learning objectives. Yes, we cover all those, but we go well beyond the basics and explore many additional tools so you can truly help your team, and not just hone your facilitation skills.

Any accredited Scrum Trainer can help you get a certificate that you can frame for your wall. But do they help you know how to work through the hard parts of Scrum?

Doing Scrum in real life isn't easy. We equip with you the tools and support to make the difficult achievable, so you can do Scrum well. Using 20+ years of experience teaching Scrum and the science of learning, we infuse our Certified Scrum Professional – ScrumMaster training program with humor and wit to make the experience fun and engaging. Plus, we back up our claims with hard evidence, so you can trust that you're getting the real deal.

Art of Problem-Solving

We begin with a question most trainers never ask: "What problem are you actually trying to solve?" Because learning without purpose is technically possible but doesn't deliver value.

Navigate Any Challenge

Instead of prescribing specific solutions, we equip you with a framework that empowers you to solve your own problems and make significant and lasting positive change.

Scrum Headache Relief

Team members vanishing for "urgent" meetings, sprint planning sessions that feel longer than the actual sprint, and retrospectives where the only honest feedback comes from the awkward silence. Sound familiar? Let's fix that.

Real Problems

No contrived simulations where rigged exercises are designed to produce a certain outcome. You'll work with your actual team - quirks, challenges, and all - and receive coaching that will directly benefit your daily work.

Self-paced Learning

Deep transformation rarely happens during a two-day workshop sandwiched between urgent emails. Focus on creating real change. Like good coffee, it takes time to brew properly.

The OODA framework

Observe-Orient-Decide-Act. Like a GPS for navigating workplace complexity, but without the frustrating "recalculating" announcements.

Invested in Your Longterm Success

We don't abandon you when your training is complete. Significant transformations won't happen overnight, and we're committed to providing ongoing support for continuous improvement.

Experience That Runs Deep

I've been practicing Scrum since 2001 - back when "Agile" was still considered a radical idea and not something executives put in PowerPoint presentations. If you're in Canada, there's a good chance I've helped navigate Agile transformations at your organization or industry.

For the first 20 years of my career, I was a software developer myself, so I understand the technical challenges your teams face. I've been a Certified Scrum Trainer since 2010, which means I've been helping ScrumMasters longer than many trainers have even held a CSM.

Our website (agilepainrelief.com/glossary) has become a leading source of Agile knowledge, covering everything from Acceptance Criteria to Zoom Fatigue, with all the research, wisdom, and occasional snark you'd expect.

Join Our Community

Beyond the course, you'll become part of our "3% Better" community - because we believe in continuous improvement rather than overnight transformations. This community is shared with two other experienced Certified Scrum Trainers, offering you a broader perspective and more resources than you'd get from just one guru.

Yes, we cover all the required learning objectives and coaching hours - that's the baseline. But we're more interested in the transformation that happens when you apply these concepts to your unique challenges.

Join us if you're ready for a different kind of Scrum learning experience
- one where finding your own path is the destination.

FAQ

What are the requirements for the Certified Scrum Professional – ScrumMaster certification?

To receive the CSP-SM certification, you need to have an existing A-CSM certification, minimum 24 months of work experience as a ScrumMaster in the last five years, and satisfactorily complete an accredited CSP-SM program like ours.

I do not have the required work experience yet, can I still start the program?

The 24 months of work experience specific to the role of Scrum Master can be met at any time once you've attended an CSP-SM course. The work experience must be within the past five years.

Is there a test at the end of the program? Will my work be graded?

There are NO tests to obtain any of the certifications that you can achieve with our Advanced programs. However, the Scrum Alliance places a strong emphasis on validated work experience to receive more advanced certifications.  Since our CSTs are the ones charged by the Scrum Alliance to make sure that learners who they certify meet a level of competency, as you go along, your assignments and exercises will be evaluated by your instructor and will have to be satisfactorily performed for them to request your certification be issued.  They will be looking for evidence that you can put into practice what you have learned in the program with a Scrum/Agile team.  In addition, you can agree to mentor if you would like deeper responses to questions and topics.

Common ScrumMaster Headaches We'll Help You Solve:

  • Sprint Planning sessions that make dental surgery seem appealing
  • The mysterious case of team members who get dragged into other projects
  • Backlog Refinement meetings where "refinement" means "adding more requirements"
  • Sprint Reviews that could cure insomnia
  • The art of facilitating retrospectives where people actually speak
  • More than we can list here because they’re based on your unique challenges

Instead of prescribing specific solutions for each problem (the consulting way), we'll equip you with a framework to navigate any challenge that comes your way. It's the difference between giving someone a fish and teaching them to fish - except in this case, the fish are solutions and the water is workplace complexity. (I may have stretched that metaphor too far, but you get the idea.)
