About

Title: Technical Program Manager

Adam is a strong leader, manager, mentor, and engineer. He has eight years of experience in the consumer electronics and audio technology industries and has contributed to the creation and adoption of many new technologies in the market.

Adam joined Dolby Laboratories in 2007 in a technical support role, helping to guide and train licensees of Dolby's audio technologies. After building technical expertise with the vast array of licensing solutions that Dolby has to offer, Adam moved away from the support role and into development. As a development engineer, Adam was responsible for maintaining existing licensing solutions as well as creating new offerings. These licensing solutions (including development kits) covered both embedded systems as well as consumer products and spanned all markets from broadcast, to home theater, to mobile and PC products.

In 2012, Adam joined the home theater product development team and was responsible for the development (and subsequent product launch) of Dolby Atmos for home theater products – a licensing solution that brought a new, immersive audio technology into audio/video receiver and sound bar products. As the engineering lead for this complex, multi-year project, Adam helped bring the Scrum development methodology to the team. Adam quickly assumed the ScrumMaster role and helped cross-train all other engineers and product managers on the team. Throughout the project, Adam organized and facilitated sprint planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings; he collaborated with marketing and product management to translate product requirements into engineering specifications, project plans, and go-to-market strategies; and he contributed to the development of customer-facing test and evaluation procedures, manuals, integration code, and tools.

Most recently, Adam became the Sr. Software Program Manager for new products at Dolby. His responsibilities include leading a fast-paced team for high-impact, strategic initiatives beyond the core Dolby businesses. He continues to lead software programs from definition through development and release and maintains a commitment to mentoring, coaching, and evangelizing Agile practices within his teams and across the organization.

Adam has earned the Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) and Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) and, most recently, the Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) credentials from the Scrum Alliance. He is currently working on the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute. He holds a Bachelor of Music with majors in computer science and music engineering from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. He currently lives in Oakland, California.
