About

Pete Deemer is a well-known figure in the Agile software community, and has spent the last 25+ years building products and services at global companies. Pete served as Chairman of the 500,000-member Scrum Alliance in 2016, as Vice Chair in 2017, and as a member of the board from 2012-2017, and has been a Certified Scrum Trainer since 2007.

Pete is the lead author of The Scrum Primer, one of the most widely read introductions to Agile development, as well as The Distributed Scrum Primer, a guide to multi-location Scrum.

Pete was VP of Product Development at Yahoo! in the early-mid 2000's, and prior to that served as SVP of c|net Networks, which was acquired by CBS. Pete was the co-founder of GameSpot, which was acquired by ZDNet.

Pete is an honors graduate of Harvard University, studied computer science at Stanford University, and earned an MSc in psychology and neuroscience from King's College London. He spent a number of years as adjunct faculty at University of California Berkeley, most recently at the Haas School of Business, where he received the prestigious Club 6 teaching award. Pete has been a visiting lecturer at the Institute of Systems Science at the National University of Singapore since 2010.
